Had Cory Not Died...

Hypothetical scenario, but let's say Cory didn't die in 2013, he's still alive today. I bet I have a pretty good idea of what might've happened in the 6th season. Finn and Rachel would be co-coaches of the glee club as opposed to Rachel and Kurt. I have nothing against Kurt personally. But I think that's what would've happened. And Finn would be more than eager to do it. It probably would've been his dream come true. 

If Cory hadn't died, I'm not sure if they would have given Rachel the New Directions coach story at all though.

I think they might have kept Rachel and Kurt in New York. I also think they might have pushed Rachel's Broadway story line back to season 6. Ryan said that the way the show was supposed to end was with Rachel coming back to Lima to visit Finn in the choir room and say "I'm home". If that's the case then I think the second half of season 5 would have probably been used for season 6 instead. Rachel makes it on Broadway and once she has finally achieved her dream, she goes home to Finn. I also don't think we would have gotten the failed TV show plot.

Finn was being set up to take over New Directions for Mr. Schue. Had Cory not died, I think they would have probably continued the split settings between New York and Lima. We would have seen Finn taking groups to Sectionals, Regionals and Nationals while Rachel and Kurt continue at NYADA and Rachel continues to try to get on Broadway. But I just have this feeling that they sped things up a bit in regards to certain stories to work around Finn/Cory no longer being on the show.

Another thing I think would have happened would have been we'd see Finn with the season 4/5 newbies (Kitty, Marley, Jake, Ryder and Unique) and some new students as well. As for Tina, Blaine, Artie and Sam, we probably could have gotten the same scenario we did in season 5. Tina goes to Brown and isn't seen as often, but Blaine, Sam and Artie move to New York.

This is just how I see things working though. I think the reason New Directions lost Nationals in season 5 was so they could get rid of the Lima side and move the focus to just New York. Rachel was on Broadway, but then got tired of it and tried to do TV. However, I think the second half of season 5 wasn't as well received as they had hoped, so they decided to switch the story back to Lima and Glee club. So Rachel's TV show failed and she and Kurt moved back to start it back up again. But I truly think had Cory not died, they would have kept Glee club around and Finn would have taken over for Mr. Schue. I think I heard/saw online that Matthew Morrison was possibly going to leave, which was why they were having Finn start taking over for Glee club. But they had to change that obviously. But anyways, if Cory was still alive, I think they keep New Directions, the season 4 senior graduate and move on while the season 4 newbies are still at McKinley with Finn, and Rachel doesn't get her Broadway story until season 6.

Yeah, maybe you're right. Unfortunately, we'll never know. 

And I'm sure Rachel would have ended up marrying Finn instead of jesse..which I'm such we all saw coming had Cory not died.

The creators always said that was the way they intended the show to end was Rachel's story to Mr. Shu. That she's make it on Broadway & then return & be with Finn. Sadly Cory died & they had to change the ending. In some ways I think the show should have just ended there. It wasn't the same and just watching made me sad he was no longer around to live a life he so richly deserved.

It's too bad Cory never got to record a solo studio album like Lea, Mark and Amber. I can tell he really enjoyed singing.

Not all the characters had singing backgrounds. He was one of them. He had no singing experience before being on Glee. In his audition tape he just showed his drumming talent not even on drums but on Tupperware and wine glasses. They liked that, but also wanted to see him sing, so when he drove from Canada to LA for his audition he played a tape over and over & sang to that for his audition

Wait ... after the build up of the entire show and Rachel's entire history before the show, she got a Broadway show, and then got TIRED of it?!

reply

Not exactly. She got a bad review and began to doubt herself so she decided to quit.

reply

no she quit funny girl to do that awful tv show Thats so Rachel.

reply

And it was canceled after only 1 episode.

reply

Finn would have been in charge of the glee club

reply

Personally, I think it would've been interesting to see Finn and Rachel as co-coaches.
