The character Warner

I'm sorry if this has been brought up already, but I am disappointed at how the film wasted the character of R.D Warner (Jim Gleason).
He was an enigmatic, interesting character who hired Cecil.

And yet, at the end of the film, Warner was just a cold hearted person who didn't hire one of the best Butlers in the nation but someone who bought a slave.
(It is also quite hilarious that he, unlike everyone else, was un-aging. Maybe making him a vampire would have been more interesting thing to do with the character than what they've done here; link him to Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter)
The character had much emotional potential as he spent at least the same amount of time (presumably longer) as Cecil did in the Whitehouse.

Perhaps I'm spoiled as I've seen 12 Years a Slave and Lincoln prior to watching this film.
In those films, Thaddeus Stevens (Jones) and Edwin Epps (Fassbender) were played as antagonists to the plot and yet had their own story of why they were.
And in that story it was revealed that they had relationships with Blacks that shaped their actions.

Just thought this film could have done that.
I thought the character of Warner could have been a pleasant surprise and win audience's heart moreso than the numerous presidents in the film.
