They ARE pretending Julie doesn't exist

So I guess I was right. So the director of this crap-pile couldn't be bothered to add Julie (Ben's cannon girlfriend) into the film but they sure as hell can add some no-name origonal character (Elena) say that Ben knew her from a few years back (although she has never been in any part of the series) and say Elena was Ben's first crush. so instead of having his actual Asian girlfriend they just pretend she doesn't even exist in favor of some random girl who's never been in ANY of the past seasons.

Those mother f@cking bastards.

Who cares? Blah blah blah, racist against asians blah blah blah. Who cares? The film was kinda better than the cartoon, if you ask me. (I found the cartoon, where they aged everybody to be annoyingly 'safe'.)

It sucks that they seem to be going non-canon.

Well, there was a small cameo with Julie, or potentially her. On the first time, Ben, Gwen, and Kevin go into their hideout in the mechanic shop, it pans to some asian girl smiling. So that must be Julie.

Ben called her "Molly."

Good thing they did leave Julie out. She has the personality of a wet paper towel. And that has nothing to do with what race she is. She's just dull.

Take note of the fact that there are a lot of differences between this movie and the series. For one, Ben, Gwen, and Kevin don't really work under Max in the series. They do get missions on occasion from him, but their a seperate team from him. He's got a team of Plumbers in training that he mostly works with. Season 3 in the opener made it pretty clear that Max's team is the B team and these three are the A team. But where's the B team here? No where and Ben, Gwen, and Kevin are all suddenly subordinated to Max.

Another difference, Ben isn't offically a Plumber. In the second season opener Kevin and Gwen are made Plumbers and recieve their badges. Ben doesn't recieve one because he's got the Omnitrix, so he's an honorary Plumber.

Then, of course there's Kevin's physical form. Throughout the movie we see him use his absorbing powers to fully or partially take on the form of what he absorbs. But again we've got the season three opener falling into conflict here as without the ID disguise mask he no longer can return to human form. We could always say that this movie takes place between seasons 2 and 3 save for Ben getting the car and appearntly getting his liscence. Ben still can't drive in season 3.

And why worry about driving to the distribution center when there's always Ship. Course that would mean mentioning Julie (remember there's been at least a couple season 3 episodes where the trio borrowed Ship but she didn't appear). Yet there's no mention of Ship either.

Look at the live action movies as being a seperate canon from the series as this one seems to incorporate elements of the series but more pick up after the last live action movie than the series itself.

Except Elena , Victor , Nanomech and the Nanochips all reappear and are expanded upon in " Ultimate Alien " . Avoiding spoilers for the most part , Elena appears in two episodes and upon meeting Julie acts civil but is secretly jealous , seeing her as a rival for Ben`s affections , completely oblivious to the fact Ben never took their( his and Elena`s ) relationship as anything more than friendship . In other words while " Race Against Time " does indeed occur in an alternate continuity ( Eon also reappears in an episode except it`s not " Race Against Time " Eon but a different Eon from a different timeline albeit with much the same backstory who doesn`t have the English accent of the " Race Against Time " incarnation ) , " Alien Swarm " is canon to the main series . Most of the discreprancies you mentioned are likely a combination of information from the " Ben 10 " universe irrelevant to the main plot of The Film being ommitted for time and creative license to make the story run more smoothly . It`s also likely after being rescued from The Highbreed , Max was somewhat shellshocked , explaining his unusually paranoid , uptight personality in the film , and wanted to keep a closer eye on Ben , Gwen and Kevin .

Be forewarned , though , fans of Elena`s arc in the film ( Yes , we do exist ) , you may not like the way she`s portrayed in " Ultimate Alien " , to say the least ! Man of Action , how could you completely spit in the face of the fans of this misunderstood Spanish heroine and the wonderful actress who portrayed her in the film like this ? Why , why do you always insist upon making Ben look like a total idiot for being open-minded and thinking for himself ?
