Soo.. It can only be played online?

I mean if it's only an online game with a monthly payment subscription, why do I have to buy a disc for the computer?

And since I can buy a disc, why can't I play it like a normal game without going online? I thought the online stuff was there for times where you want to beat your friends or something, not for full single player.

So I guess the word "online" in the title escaped you? Also, this is not all that unusual. WoW has a disc as did The Sims Online.

You're thinking of a single player game with multiplayer like COD. This entire gameworld is online all the time. You have to pay a monthly fee to enter it. When you stop a playing COD match, the gameworld you were just in ceases to exist, and you create a new one next match. Someone's console acts as a server. This has dedicated servers that always run; the world is persistent and is always there whether you are or not.

I think the disk is kind of like a key, but tbh I don't understand the need of that HUGE initial download if they still require you to have the disk.

Aaah, buckle this.
