My God, Please no...

My PS3 is broken, I cant insert discs anymore, but everything else works, etc. My real concern is this: After Sony sends me my Playstation back from repair, with a wiped harddrive(as is their protocol) Will I have to re-install the game and wait like 18 hours again!?

If everything else works, why didn't you back it up before you sent it in? Or simply just removed the hard drive? They've made it extremely easy to do both.
