Question about one scene

So...what's the deal with the sharing of the dumplings?
I got it that it is more than mere generosity, but what is the meaning?

Probably some Chinese culture thing a European won't really understand, but I'm willing to learn.
So please, dear Chinese out there, enlighten me :-)

It's explained in the scene itself.

It's the Winter Solstice, and this gathers family together and they enjoy many feasts and each others company. They all had dumplings to share in this feeling of mutual brotherhood, and of course to increase morale. There's also a feeling of "Last Supper" with it as well where every man eats together knowing they are all off to what is possibly their last few hours alive.

If you meant why did they give Zhou Yu more dumplings - it's out of respect and knowing he will need the strength to guide them all.
