It really is John Woo's Red Cliff.

It's like John Woo took the story from the book and just butchered it and mixed in some Dynasty Warriors in it. When I saw Guan Yu fighting like that I was pissing my pants laughing and same with Sun Shang Xiang. There was probably only like 2 parts in the whole movie that portrayed the scenes accurately from the book, which were when Zhuge Liang collected the arrows and when Zhou Yu's childhood friend came over to spy on him.

7/10? Yea, but only for its own story and action battle scenes.

I guess that's why they call it "John Woo's Red Cliff".

Yea, I would've loved to have an extra 20 minutes of Cao Cao being ambushed by shu and then Guan Yu letting him go. but it is a movie, and after all, they want cash. not fanboys

Well it's called RED CLIFF not ROMANCE OF THE THREE KINGDOMS. It is not suppose to be an adaptation of the book. The book itself is historically inaccurate. For example the film's portrayal of Zhou Yu is far more accurate than the books. Woo and his screenwriters have taken elements from history, the book and created some for the screen.

if they made a movie about the whole romance of the three kingdoms it would be a tridecalogy... it would last a hundred hours.

it's impossible to do so (if they could, it would be orgasmic), therefore, directors can only portray a small part of the book and make it their adaptation.

Everything is made to be perfect.

It's a movie! It's a movie! It's not the book! Yeah yeah!

Like my song?

Quite catchy.

"When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro."

I'm sure John Woo couldn't care less whether people thought of the film as his version of Red Cliff. He'd likely agree with them.🐭
