I wanted to see at least one cat story

I loved this documentary and found it heart-rending and tear-jerking. My only cavil is that all of the stories were about lost and found DOGS. It would have been nice to balance things out with a cat tale. People get just as attached to cats as to dogs. There must have been at least one happy story of a cat-and-guardian reunion out there!

P.S. I did enjoy seeing the Canadian woman's beloved tabby in the background.

We sure do get attached to cats, as well. I have a large adopted dog who I love dearly now, but the love of my life is my cat who passed away several years ago. When we had flooding on the streets in the late 90s, the National Guard picked up those of us who were stuck there and couldn't drive due to the water. We'd gotten one hour's notice at my apartment building that we HAD to evacuate it. First thing I took out was my cat in her carrier in case they wouldn't let me back in. Luckily, there was not even a mention of pets. They just grabbed my cat's carrier and put her on the vehicle along with me. I do remember thinking that if she couldn't go, neither would I, but it was not a problem. It should've been that way for Katrina pets, too, letting them leave with their families.

I burst out crying at the part where the rescuers are going down the water filled streets in boats, listening for barking dogs, and someone says 'Cats don't bark' and it occurred to me all those dogs rescued because they barked, and all those cats that weren't because they don't bark.

Yes, that was very sad. I like to think that many cats survived, though, through the agility and ability to climb that they have and dogs don't.

It was a travesty to leave animal companions like was done at Katrina and they should never have been left behind, either by choice or by force. :(

What if you have other responsibilities besides your pet? There were people who took their children and other family members to a safe area and then prohibited from going back to their pets. It is fine to say shoot me I'm going to get my dog, but do you have the right to say shoot me and my kids we we are going back for our pets?

Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt.
