Are floor traders junkies?

I could be wrong but they seem like junkies to me all chasing a high they got from beating out the other guys. In some ways it's sad that the days of floor trading is over, but what value were they really providing to society? Their answer is "liquidity" but if that's true then they should embrace electronic trading. I suspect they are just sad because their drug supply disappeared. I think it's better this way because otherwise these people spend their lives producing nothing, and it is better that they are forced to find ways to put their talents into some real service.

Well I worked at the CBOT for 8 years and CME for a bit as well. You are talking out of your a $$. You have NO idea what went on in the Pits, so you should STFU. THANKS.

Why attack me instead of my point? Either you feel that traders are not junkies or you feel that they make the world better. Even if I am an ignorant troll, my question is still valid. Take a stab at that.

Electronic trading was a great advancement and good for the market. Kenny Ford is angry because the market before was skewed towards him and it was easy money, of course he is complaining now when things are more fair.
Many industries produce nothing, trading is not unique. Because of new technology, we have many more people than we need.
