Love the show, Hate the dub

I've been following this anime for years and have been (im)patiently waiting for it to be released in the US. I'm glad Funimation was smart and picked it up because now I can finally watch it to the end.

And I got so excited when I learned there was a dub, especially with such a great English-speaking cast. But I find the dub to be awful, it's really disappointing. I've watched several episodes hoping I'll get used to the voices, but I just can't. Nobody sounds right, except for maybe Hatchin. Michiko's voice is the worst, it's just so bad. Listening to the dub is like using a sandpaper Q-Tip and I just can't do it anymore.

I don't like the dub either. You need more seasoned actors for characters like these. And why couldn't they hire a black actress instead of a white one to dub a black character (Michiko)? Does Funimation not know any black performers?

When it comes to VA I don't think it matters if a White woman voices a Black character or a Black women voices an Asian character.

Watch it in Japanese (with subs.) Problem solved. The Japanese V.A.'s are excellent.

Why would anyone who loves anime watch an English dub if a Japanese-language subtitled version is available? I've never understood this.

I liked the dub, maybe some of the supporting characters voices could have been better, but overall I liked the dub.

To the guy that said "You need more seasoned actors" Most of these voice actors are very experienced.I hear more people saying they want to see newer and lesser known talent which why a lot of recent dubs have newer and lesser known voice actors as the leads or are just part of the cast.

Ask the guards, they'll deny it. Ask the inmates here—they'll cut their tongues out before they talk
