I have never seen a court room drama like this

And I watch a lot of Law and Order.

At first it sounds like a rip off to The Verdict but the third act makes up for it.

This movie also has predictable cliché like the divorce parent who has custody of the child traveling far away from the other parent out of spite...

I fell in love with this movie after Cate(Beckinsale) gets Lacy off and then starts realizes it was a mistake then she starts mending broken fences with the Man who she put in prison for eight years and he verbally gets back at her by saying that he enjoys seeing her fall apart and she goes to pieces, falls off the wagon, and the next day her own daughter sees what she has become. A drunk.

My mother was an alcoholic and it broke my heart to see her drunk too so I could relate but Cate is so remorseful I couldn't but help feeling sorry for her. I wanted to hug her or pad her on the back.

Now, the third act when she puts right where she went wrong by putting Lacy back in prison was the icing on the cake. She got back at the lying bitch.

I went into this movie thinking it was going to be a simple story of "hotshot lawyer has alcoholic downfall but bounces back by winning a case..."

It's not that at all. It's more complicated than that and it's executed so well. Beckinsale gives us something we never seen before. I walked away from this film with the idea that in life it's not always about winning, it's about doing the right thing. I think that's the moral of this story.

Anyway, have you seen this movie? What did you think about it? I want to know.

Well, you put enough spoilers in there that we don`t need to watch it now, thanks.

They had every cliché you can think of. Nothing original to see here.
