Am I the only one who felt that this movie was overrated?

Like...REALLY overrated? I thought that it was overall a mostly boring family movie with some funny gags wedged in here and there. Now I love animated movies, Wreck-It Ralph, Tangled, Megamind, Monsters Inc., Up, Toy Story 1-3, and The Incredibles are some of my favorite movies of all time. I'm not just a troll hating on a kids movie or anything, I just didn't like it.

And I must be the only person in the world who doesn't like those minions. I thought that they could be funny, but after one punched another one for the ninth time, it kinda got old...

The second one was better a bit better, but I felt that the first one was really just not good. 4/10 in my opinion.

Everyone I know is MADLY in love with this movie and thinks its like the best animated movie since Pixar, and I seem to be the only one who didn't like it. Did anyone else feel this way? (please be civil)

I didn't love it but it definitely grew on me after a few viewings. It's got some real charm in certain moments. I find the minions really annoying, but I wonder if I'd feel the same way if they hadn't been so built up as the most hilarious things ever before I saw the movie. I know a lot of people who are obsessed with those little yellow guys. I even know someone who just got a tattoo of one. I think it's a case of over-hype - nothing can live up to that kind of buildup.

Disagree. I have been hearing how great this movie is for three years, especially from my brother who thinks he is a genius because he has kids, but I just watched it tonight and I thought it was very enjoyable. I don't even like Steve Carrell but his voice didn't annoy me and the minions didn't bother me at all either.

I could see where you couldn't get into the snarkiness, casual violence, and certain characters. Guess you just weren't in a receptive state of mind to accept this movie. It happens.

OT--Was the girl who played Agnes the younger sister of the girl who played Boo in Monsters, Inc?

I thought it was an 'okay' movie. Cliched if you ask me (a grumpy, mean spirited guy begins to be 'softened' by a couple of kids, turns to the good side - bleh). Gru reminded me a lot of Shrek btw, and not in a good way.

I wanted to see more of the Minions - I'd hope the 2015 movie (which is going to be about them) will be better.

Life is like a beautiful melody, only the lyrics are messed up.

I couldn't agree more

I kinda agree.

It's mostly all over the place with the main story barely holding any weight because it goes off into such a ridiculous tangent. It reminds me of Family Guy where they cut away to jokes in the middle of the story in the most ADD manner possible.

But there are some very good moments in it. I think if the story was more focused and the gags felt more relevant to the story, it would've been so much better.

Stuff like this reminds me of "Movie Poop Shoot.com" from Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back.

I enjoyed this movie, but it is very overrated.

That being said, when Despicable Me first came out, it came out around the same time as Megamind, the two were heavily compared to each other, and Megamind was the one that was overrated at the time. Megamind was a good movie, but as someone who preferred Despicable Me, it really annoyed me at the time, and I'm glad that the tables have turned.

I`m sorry for my lack of manners, but I`m not used to escorting men.

the strength of this movie is not in the story, it's in the quality of animation and attention to details, maybe too much. it's clear also from your post that you can't even find one mistake, you just full of it, oh i'm cool cause i don't like it like every one. just stupid

So then by that logic, because Cars 2 had better animation than the first Toy Story, Cars 2 is a better movie?

And yes, I did point out reasons for disliking the movie (such as the annoying minions, the enormous amount of subplots, etc). If you enjoyed the movie, that's great, I know a lot of people who adore the movie as well.

I'm simply just stating my opinion here.

that's the issue here, you don't seem to have an opinion, just a gut feeling. you find something annoying, your mind can't follow too many subplots (that's why the movie is great for several replays, you may follow the subplots you missed before) i admit this film doesn't have the emotional qualities of pixar movies, but it's much better structured than dreamworks movies.

i mostly will not be able to answer your reply, since marissa mayer hacked my email, no notification
