Definitely silly and more and more implausible as it progressed towards a climax. So typical of the bad screenwriting coming out of Hollywood these days.
Elba should have been dead at least halfway through that terrible mauling at the end, especially when the lion appeared to be so indestructible, having just survived not only the careen with the vehicle down the mountain side, but also the fiery explosion shortly afterwards. And then it managed to quickly track him and his daughters down, in spite of the distance he had put between them with the frantic truck getaway. When one daughter asked, "How did it find us?" he simply dismissed it as, "It must have tracked us across the mountains." In other words, it took a short cut and had a much keener sense of smell than a bloodhound. Also, why would it have let his friend Martin live after the initial attack, just temporarily staring him down, then inexplicably wandering off? After all, this came on the heels of the animal having decimated almost an entire village, both people and livestock.
This was a stupid, badly written movie.
