Garrett was kind of a douchebag.

He mopes around the whole movie. He can't make a decision. A real man would have either put Erin in the "friends with benefits" category and started dating other women. Or he would have made it work.

Being that she had the better job, he should have moved to San Francisco and gotten the best job he could if he loved her as much as he professed the entire movie.

But no. He wants her to give up her career and wait tables so they could be together. But he doesn't even think about giving up his, which he said he hated.

And his style and mannerisms were kind of douchey. He wasn't a real man.

(And this has nothing to do with Garrett being a douche. But his friends were cliché. One was the shallow womenizer who only cares about getting laid. And is an apparent commitment phobe. And the other was a ridiculous idiot who only gets laid when women get so drunk they lose their good judgement.)
