Wow, you mean there is a movie out there that has some similarities to another? Have you actually watched both? Hate to burst your bubble, but there are many movies out there that have similarities, doesnt mean they are not original. And as for unoriginal movies, seen Avatar? Fantastic movie, but with a storyline that has been used 100x over-didnt matter to me. Neither did COI, enjoyed the movie last year and deserves the praise it has received.

avatar was formulaic, distrcit 9 was better.

Avatar was a complete rip off of Fern Gully (the Disney movie).

This movie was really good. The ending kind of left me hanging though.
I hated Avatar. I didn't get the hype. Special effects? There are many movies with great special effects that tell a great story. Avatar was mediocre. But I agree with the other poster that many movies have similar plots. Ideas run short in life and we tend to recycle. How about Crash and Magnolia stories that tie characters to each other by events and people. There was another movie like those 2 but it escapes me.
This movie was still good.

Agreed. Nobody knows is probably more than just inspiration to this film and it is a class apart as well. I was touch by this interpretation of it, however there wasn't really any major age of discovery or a real trial and tribulation that they had to go through. Effectively the children had 'a day out' by themselves looking for an ATM whereas in nobody knows the eldest boy managed to become the sole breadwinner and carer for his siblings for an exceptionally long period of time. I'd suggest people watch the other film (subtitled) and decide for themselves. It is very similar in the story and I was under the misunderstanding that this was the american remake. After watching it I can definitely say it isn't. It is like comparing the discovery of america to the discovery of a hair on my ass. Totally worlds apart in my scale of awe.

This movie is loosely based off the director/writer's personal life. And Nobody Knows yes has children left to fend for themselves, but this one is a different movie. Other than children temporarily on their own and the main characters being Asian, the two movies have nothing in common.

Also, you should read up on what really happened to the children the story Nobody Knows is based off of. It is so much more tragic than the movie.

I once saw a movie about bad guys wronging some dude's family. Then this dude takes the law into his own hands and enacts vengeance on the bad guys! And then years later I saw a movie that was amazing similar! Can you believe someone could be so unoriginal as to repeat a movie theme??
