This is RADIO THEATER! no tv series!, stop complaining

That's why they left the balloons, and the fact that there's only one voice... you get use to it, you can imagine one guy alone in the radiostation telling the story right in the board playing the noises and adding the soundtrack... and in top of that you get the original visual caracterization.

It's a MOTION COMIC, it's like radio theater in the 40's... think about that. It's suposed to be like this.

There are also audio tapes of the graphic novel Kingdome Come, it's painted in gouache so it's beautiful... the idea is you read de comic and listen to the tape. (Both are somewhere around the web). It's from Mark Waid and Alex Ross.

I think your post nails exactly why this didn't work for me. First of all, I am not a big fan of audio books to begin with (I personally like to see the words on the page, and I don't like a truncated work, and nearly all audio books cut content for time), but the problem here is that this is NOT AN AUDIO BOOK. Nor is it a RADIO PLAY. Both of those mediums rely on SOUND to tell the story, and nothing else. That's the point. The entertainee is left to fill in the visuals in their own mind. This series, however, combines not only the visuals, but also the dialogue panels with a voice over. This is just terribly distracting to me as a viewer. If there are words on the screen, I start to read them. Then I have the narrator negating that necessity, and he also is doing all of the parts. It's too many conflicting mediums for one piece. I'd say this is a 9 out of ten with a couple of voice actors working the parts (I'd even settle for one talented woman, one talented man, just something to differentiate better). It's a 10 out of 10 if you combine that with losing the dialogue panels.

There's no reason for people to "stop complaining." This is a discussion board. That's what it's here for.

You need to listen to more OTR. They had full casts back then. Full casts. This was a major misstep. Marvel did it better with Astonishing. I think they should re-do the audio for WM.

Disparaging Americans merely reveals your own narrow-minded naiveté and incognizant Americentrism.
