The pipe that both her and her mother smoke from is a popular design used for smoking meth amphetamine, cocaine, or crack. It's a freebasing pipe. I'm no expert, but I don't think people use those for either tobacco, or for marijuana.

Oh, well excuse me Mr. Wise Watchmen reader. No, I didn't read The Watchmen, and it doesn't matter that the concept originated from the graphic novel. It's still a god damn meth pipe, and it would be both difficult and nasty to smoke tobacco out of it (no filter for one thing).
