does the black detective get called names?

just wondering. In the movie "Devil in a Blue Dress", the Denzel Washington character interacts in post-WW II los angeles, and it's a pretty treacherous time socially and politically for African Americans.

so what does the Anthony Mackie character get to do in this film?

"With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility"

they make him sweep the floors and make him clean the dishes at the main cop's house.

also they called him BOI a couple of times and some bad cops beat him up and put him in jail for no reason, the other cops have to break him out of jail from the racist cops

Also he is told to leave his badge at home but the other guys are not told to do this.

he has to kill the bad guys with knives because the leader cop doesn't let him have guns for some reason. even the good cops were racist because he had to use knives only

at the end instead of becoming a detective like the others they make him a street cop while the other guys get promoted.

He is part of the Gangster Squad and is treated as an equal. Great movie.

Harris and Kennard are two of the more potentially interesting characters and yet they get the least exposition, which is more than a little sad.🐭
