What were they thinking?

Everything about this movie was bad and unrealistic. From the start, I'm sure the little boy would have been scared when some random stranger just got into the car, especially when he pulls a gun on the mom. Not this kid though. They were like best friends throughout the movie.

How many victims talk a carjacker's head off like she did? For half the movie, it seemed like they were friends on a joy ride, with a line thrown in every now and then to remind us that he was a bad guy. This made the movie go by very slowly as well.

At the gas station, why didn't she just tell the kid to report the carjacker to the people who were supervising all the kids in line? Also, considering it was midnight, I highly doubt a school bus full of young children would be out anyway.

The whole getting out of the trunk thing was ridiculous, but that's not half as dumb as the fact that she gets to a gas station and instead of calling 911 to report what had happened, she keeps asking for change to make a bunch of phone calls to find out about her son. Then when she talks to the deputy, he refuses to take her seriously when she reports the carjacker taking another woman and child hostage. I would think most cops would be all over that.

The carjacker arrived at the gas station in the guy's car who he killed and threw in the trunk. Why risk getting noticed and possibly getting caught to carjack the other people anyway? I always thought criminals would prefer to fly under the radar so they don't get caught.

I know they have to add the whole dramatic effect in, but it was so ridiculous that the carjacker jumped at shooting and killing the cop, yet he stands there threatening Maria Bello's character instead of quickly killing her off and getting her out of the way. Why not just shoot her and run away with the money? Her concern with the money was dumb too. Is the money really more important than staying alive? She had plenty of opportunities to take the carjacker out anyway, and she just dragged it out even more.

There were more stupid parts in this movie, but I think those were the worst. Actually, I don't think there was one bit of the movie that was well done. I caught this on Lifetime, and I know that Lifetime movies are very cheesy and poorly done, but this movie made the typical Lifetime movie look perfect.
