The ending killed it....

Was somewhat entertaining up until the last 3rd or so of the movie, most of it was predictable but it just got so messy towards the end that it ended up laughable to be honest.

In saying that I thought Dorff did well, I enjoyed his part

ONLY GOD CAN JUDGE ME!!

I know...I still can't believe the mom pushed her OWN kid out of the car into oncoming traffic just so she could live with the carjacker!

BUT the special effects when the kid explodes were pretty wicked!

Well I would rather prefer another ending:
1 - she stashes the money someplace
2 - wait for the Police to arrive
3 - Ballistics would prove that she did not shoot any of the officers
4 - gives her account of the kidnapping
6 - gets her son back
7 - comes back and get the money
8 - Moves to Mexico.

I just saw Keyser Söze , he said 'this is the girl"...

She did not push her child into on coming traffic. She sent him on a school bus that was at the gas station.

Hahaha, I am watching the movie right now but am getting bored so I looked here. Your comment shocked me for a second and almost makes me want to keep watching. I wish she would pull herself together enough to take out the d-bag.

she kelp the stolen money right???

reply

AMEN! It was OK until the part starting with her calling up to find out about her kid instead of 911. It went all downhill from there.

Flat out ridiculous to chase after the guy when he has the woman and child in the car - and ramming the car? Driving alongside pointing the shotgun? It all became comic book scenarios. The constant resurrection of the bad guy - shot and run down and STILL comes back?

I WAS hoping that she'd play the innocent and keep the money, as someone in another thread mentioned. Then again, right at the end, grandma says she saw what was under her daughters bed, so maybe she did do a "one for me, one for the bank" routine.

Normally I hate posts that nitpick plot points in a movie, but you are 100% right. As soon as she went into the diner at the end, she could have simply called 911. Instead she's dialing everyone else looking for her son, where the ONLY place he would be is with the cops! Then when she steals that truck, starts ramming Roy with 2 innocents in the damn car!?? WTF!!! She went full retard! Then stealing the money? Great lesson for your kid there!

reply

Oh, Jesus. Yes, her kid was with the cops. But the thing is, she didn't know WHERE the cops where. And as a mother who was worried about her child the first thing she did was to find out where he was and to make sure he was okay. I think that's pretty *beep* logical on her part.

reply

There is just one problem with your idea; if she simply called 911 it would have been BORING, and PREDICTABLE.. It is a movie, meant to entertain; this is a thriller..it is meant to THRILL. I loved the ending, it was crazy and unexpected. Like it turned into "The Hitcher" suddenly!

"IMdB; where 14 year olds can act like jaded 40 year old critics...'

hear hear
For me it went downhill since she was trapped inside the trunk with the dead guy, on fire, but still managed to get out. I don't know if that's possible. Some ppl in some trunk in some car might be lucky enough to have safely escaped... too? But for me, it's illogical and it turns me off. Afterward? ..umm well the diner? the return of the bad guy? the car chasing? the ending? wow.. what a real mess! I feel very sorry coz I really like its cinematography. They've got so many interesting angles and POVs, really cool color scheme too. (and I personally root for the lead actress:) It's a shame they didn't do it right, man... T_T?

Quite frankly I enjoyed the *beep* out of the ending. Maria Bello kicking ass? I think so. And the whole point of her character was for her to go from being this ambiguous woman who let people walk all over her to getting angry and finally standing up for herself. I myself was worried about the other mother and little girl when she was ramming the car and aiming the shotgun at Roy, but in the end the other mother and little girl got away and she took control so I was okay with it. Also, her hitting Roy with the car, which looked like it hurt a lot, should have been where their fight ended. Otherwise I got what I wanted, i.e. Maria Bello kicking some ass. Which she did.
