Not THAT bad *slight spoilers*

Maria Bello does a good job at the acting. The movie starts out okay, but toward the end it gets silly.. like for example, Roy standing there shooting his hand gun and not moving at all to dodge the car that hits him. He just stands there waiting to get hit. The ammount of times he gets injured and comes out alive is stupid too.. but eh, it's entertainment I guess.

6/10

I thought it was really bad, and the acting from Maria Bello & Stephen Dorf was poor in my opinion (don't even get me started on the kid).

4/10. Which is generous in my eyes.

this movie kept me entertained from start to finish. time and again it reminded me of the *beep* named "collateral" which made it all the more entertaining. it deserves a decent 7 but i rated it 8 due to collateral !!!

***SPOIL ALERT***

I just finished watching this movie and I was very entertained, but there was some major stupidity going on by Lorraine. All she had to do was cooperate and he would have let them go but she couldn't handle it. She picked the wrong time to start getting angry at people. Then, towards the end, she still couldn't just let it go. She put the new captors in danger trying to save the day. I'm still trying to figure out how everyone survived the car accident and not one of them was wearing a seat belt. And just how many times does one have to pump a shotgun before shooting at something? I don't know how many times I laughed out loud, but the first time was at the first gas station when the kid asked his mom if there was enough pizza for Roy. She's like, who's Roy? Then I cracked up when Roy got sprayed in the eyes and said now he smelled like an effin candy cane. Thanks Lorraine. Too funny. I might watch this movie again, just to find out what I missed cause I was laughing too hard the first time.

as pointed out not that bad i.e. 5/10.
as noted the last quarter of the flick just becomes silly (i.e. B-movie bad).

also the main character is pathetically weak, which will definitely not make this movie to everyones liking.

I also felt this was a decent film. It's obviously "made for TV", but that doesn't make it a bad film.

I thought the acting was fair, but nothing special. There were many moments in the film that were genuinely funny, such as Chad telling his mum that she shouldn't say "$h1t", and she tells him off for saying it, and he says "no, it's you who said it". And later on, he tells his mum that Roy had just said "$h1t", etc.

The final 15-20 minutes of the film is bordering on the implausible, but it's based on the premise that Lorraine is psychologically "borderline". It makes it more entertaining, which isn't a bad thing for a film that essentially spends half its audience viewing time in one location - inside of Lorraine's car.

I didn't find it boring at all. Sure, the characters are unbelievably stupid - particularly Roy. But I didn't feel like nodding off at all... something which I did do whilst watching "The Two Towers" (supposedly epic film, but it's just battle scene after battle scene... and no story or character progression).

I'd rate this film 6/10 - slightly above average for having a few moments of sharp dialogue.

it's definitely not as bad as it's average rating (i.e. 4.8/10 average with 1,939 votes) suggests it is overall as most of those 5.x/10 rated films (or lower) are usually dissed but to crack into the 4.x/10 area is usually near total crap and this film is not THAT bad overall.

i would still say the film as a whole is at least average-ish and not in that total crap range like it's average suggests it is. it's elevated a bit by Bello/Dorff.

i give it a 6.5/10. even slightly conservative i would give it a 6/10 as it did not waste my time at the very least.

it has some parts that are kind of bad but the overall film i thought was carried by Bello/Dorff. but it is a pretty standard film of the genre so it's not surprising it's rating is not high as it would be looking at a very low 6's AT BEST for a average rating and probably in the mid to upper 5's, but to see a 4.x/10 that's a bit to low.

p.s. in general for me... 6/10 or lower = Thumbs Down. 7/10 or higher = Thumbs Up. so with this film i am sort of on the edge with it as i don't really want to say Thumbs Up, but i don't really want to say Thumbs Down either. but since we can't give in between ratings on IMDb ill be generous and give it a 7/10 instead of a 6/10. i might be able to watch it again but i can tell it's on the back burner in that dept as there are just to many other films out there with higher re-watch priority.

The movie starts out okay, but toward the end it gets silly.. like for example, Roy standing there shooting his hand gun and not moving at all to dodge the car that hits him. He just stands there waiting to get hit. The ammount of times he gets injured and comes out alive is stupid too.. but eh, it's entertainment I guess.

i have to agree here.

but like i was saying above, at the very least, it did not waste my time watching the film as i can at least give it that much.

i mostly watched it for Maria Bello (and maybe Stephen Dorff to (his 'Felon' (2008) (8.5-9/10) was somewhere between my 2nd-4th favorite film of 2008)) so that could have possibly boosted it a bit for me as odds are if you swapped Bello/Dorff with some random no name actors i would have probably not given it more than a 6/10 for sure, possibly a bit less. but then again if you removed them from the film i probably would have never bothered to watch it in the first place. lol

so for me they elevated a otherwise pretty standard film that's been done quite a few times before.

I'd rate this film 6/10 - slightly above average for having a few moments of sharp dialogue.

it appears you got the scale based on math which is 5/10 is average and you go below average or above average depending on what side of it you are.

but for me my scale is like this in simple terms...

7/10 or higher = Thumbs Up
6/10 = average-ish (depending on what side of that your on whether it's a 'solid 6' or 'weak 6'. but usually most films that land on a 6 at least did not waste my time.)
5/10 = bordering on crap
4/10 or less = failure (usually films that land here i am genuinely bored by to where i have little to no interest in continuing to watch and that's the worst crime a film can commit)

but i mostly formulated my, "6/10 or less = Thumbs Down. 7/10 or higher = Thumbs Up", rating scale based on my perception of IMDb which is usually this in terms of average ratings...

7.x/10 or higher = generally positive opinions
6.x/10 = mixed ratings (like some might like it and some people might not. especially depending on if your on the higher or lower side of the 6's)
5.x/10 or less = generally negative opinions

Maria Bello does a good job? She is a terrible actress.

The movie is downright mediocre. Not awful nor good.

Boycott movies that involve real animal violence! (and their directors too)
