How am I the only one that finds this Mel Gibson hate spewing ironic?

I fail to see how you can proclaim that someone is a terrible, hate spewing nazi, while using hate speech to backup your opinion. Every single Mel Gibson thread reeks of irony from the hate spewing OP. So let me get this straight, by writing a hateful speech, that overgeneralizes how "evil" someone is for spewing some crap during a drunken rambling, somehow makes you better than they are? Worse yet, by trying to prove your point through degrading, insulting, dehumanizing, and applying the worse prejudices that you can possibly apply to the aforementioned person, you somehow think that you're going to convince others, that would otherwise disagree with you, to agree with you?

The term "holier than thou" almost seems like an understatement. Never have I seen so much self-righteous crap directed towards somebody, and worse yet, it's all under the thinly veiled guise of projecting "what is wrong and right for everyone."

Reality check: hate speeches are a terrible way to enforce the error of a hate speech. By using hate speech to assert the reasons as to why you disapprove of someone, you are simply, at the least, stooping down to their level. If anything, you're stooping down further due to the fact that you're singling someone out, as opposed to expressing your own personal frustration.

Fact: by singling someone out through hate speech, you're personally attacking someone. I fail to see how any of this justifies widespread prejudice. To make the irony even more ironic, you're applying prejudice to smite prejudice.

Basically, I don't care what Mel Gibson said, as actions speak louder than words. I have said plenty of hateful things in the past that I later came to regret and disagree with, and I know that I am not alone. It's a part of being human, we all make mistakes, if you can't admit that, that is simply due to the fact that you're either living in denial, or you're simply unable to see yourself for who you are. Nobody's perfect, and I'm sure if your lives were on public display in the same light as Mel Gibson's, everyone would have no shortage of anger that they could direct towards you.

So please stop the nonsense. This is a message board for a film, it's not an outlet for asserting hate towards one particular actor.

I don't think it's ironic, but I'm pretty sure if a good friend of these haters were drunk off his ass spewing racial slurs, they would likely joke along with him, or tell him to calm down.

Gibson is a nice target because the trolls can grab attention by riding off his public image. Yes, there is a distasteful side to Mel Gibson, but unless you're still an ignorant tween, you'd understand the vast majority of us would have dark secrets of our own.
