Possibly the worst remake of all times

they had no understanding what made the original so great.

I thought it was an interesting take on the movie... He adapted it to an American setting and changed some of the fight scenes and the twists and the ending, but in an interesting way...

It's a different movie, but still a good one... I think the original is better and certainly has a different mood and atmosphere, but it was nice to see Spike's take on it

actually it wasn't spike's take. it was still the same script that nobody wanted to direct or be casted in, when they still had spielberg and will smith in the boat and which ultimately drove both of them off the project. no matter how much spike cries about "not getting his directors cut". it wasn't his "vision" to begin with. also, he lied all his way to the bank, when it comes to this project. even offended chan-wook park himself by lying to him about doing a "completely different" take, which wasn't even his to promise.

spike has done a lot of bad things in his life, but this one might have been he worst. he turned himself from a writer/director that is mostly known for missing the point into a director-whore for money. a tragedy, really.

I didn't realise there was so much drama involved... ultimately i can only go on what's on the screen and it seemed a worthwhile remake, even though it doesn't measure up to the original...

fair enough. ^^
