The family house

I was wondering if anyone else thought the family house was the same one used in the TV series "Six Feet Under". I noticed the resemblance especially in the entry and drawing room (where the service was held). Anyone know?

I don't know if it was but it's the first thing I thought when I saw it.

Cool, thanks. I feel a little less crazy now.

The viewing room and the front hallway area made me think of Six Feet Under. If it's not the same house, I bet this movie's house is from around the same time period as the Six Feet Under house.

The exterior, where they showed the cars parking, is definitely different though. Not shot in the Six Feet Under house neighborhood.

In the special features in the DVD of this movie, someone or other discusses the inside set versus the outside. The inside set was used in several movies. They deliberately made the inside of the "house" dark in tone. They had to edit the movement from inside to outside and vice-versa. It got tricky, I think, especially when Oscar feels sick and has to run upstairs to the bathroom. I think the editing is smooth. It's interesting to me, because the acting for any particular scene (inside/outside) doesn't take place on the same day. It took weeks to film this movie. When you listen to the British version director, Frank Oz, discussing this, they had to actually map out where any one person was standing/doing, so there would be continuity from one day's shooting to another. I don't remember LaBute talking about this, but I'm pretty certain there were similar concerns. Just think: all the actors had to wear the same costumes for weeks and days. When Zoe Salander was up on the "roof" (another set), she ripped her dress as she climbed to the top. They had to have duplicate costumes and seamstresses at the ready to repair rips and tears.
Continuity becomes another issue for Tracy Morgan's uh... stuff... on his shirt. Excuse the long answer; one thing led to another in my mind.
I have little patience for those who just post "Worst Film Ever" or some other such; people work so hard to make a film.

Thanks for the detailed comments lynn-ash.

Whenever I read a "Worst Film Ever" comment without any information about why they say that, I think the person must be small and kind of a loser. Probably one that hasn't accomplished anything interesting in their life.
