The show wasn't gory enough.

If you're going to make a show about such a fucked up individual you might as well go all out. Instead almost all the killing and dismemberment took place off screen. We are told about him jerking off on the victims' internal organs, but we don't get to see it. The show would've been far more transgressive and impactful if they included that stuff.
