Why isn't someone making animated movies that looks like this?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z0RuR3FREFw&feature=fvwrel

These cut-scenes or whatever they are called just keep getting better and better looking. People are noticing too. If you look at the comments people are totally geeking out over stuff like this.

Do they not realize how much money they'd make if animated movies looked like this? If these movie/tv companies are going to insist on giving us CG movies (and being rid of traditional animation) why not at least make it look good?

I was thinking the same thing. I mean The Clone Wars cartoons are fun and all, but are more so for kids. Why not give us something of this quality for an older crowd?

Part of the reason these games make so much money is because they are like interactive movies. These cutscenes absolutely add to the experience. The animation in them is better than anything in Toy Story, Wall-E, and some other really good movies.

With animated family films studios/companies are making a film that's more accessible and that will give the film a better chance at the box-office. That's one of the reasons why most studios/companies go down that path. Also everyone thought the biggest CG animated production (at the time) was going to be ground breaking and making so much money and be well beloved. That film was "Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within"... Huge flop, but with that failure steered many away from making a "serious" animation of that caliber. Also CG animated feature films require more time and a larger budget to produce. Two things that make studios/companies reluctant to invest in.

I think of the best cinematics for a game was from "Deus Ex: Human Revolution" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kq5KWLqUewc) I mean the main character, Adam Jensen, has a strong Christian Bale vibe. I'm just happy that this game will bring the Deus Ex series into a the mainstream... hopefully. Anyways as for a game's cinematics/cut-scenes the studios/companies are involved in making a video game nothing more. If they wanted to make CG Films then they wouldn't be in the Video Game industry. I don't understand why people are now realizing these cinematics/cut-scnes, but to be overly insistent they these studios/campanies should make a film instead, is silly. They're knocking on the wrong door and need go to the studios/companies that are in the Film/Animation industry and demand they make a CG film that is as awesome as a video games cinematics/cut-scenes.

sorry, I tuned you out

I love The Old Republic trailers. I mean...oh my god! They are amazing. You can tell George Lucas has nothing to do with 'em. Too dark... Too friggin good!

But...

If they were too make a movie of such.. You just know Mr. Lucas would *beep* it up!!

..."No!... NOOoooooOOOooOOoO"

I don't want Lucas involved. That wasn't really my point. Plus, he lets people make that cartoon (and the cartoon movie); botoh of which he has nothing to do with.

I get that and all, but video games are NOT all family friendly and make millions.

Look at one of the most recent comments. "They need to make a movie". And that isn't the only time I've ever seen those kinds of comments.

The trailers made by Blur (not the cut scenes) are great but they reportedly cost around $1 million per minute to make. That's why you don't see many of them. If you go to Blur's site you will see some of the other ones are great but some aren't: making a movie would be a big and very expensive risk.
