This main character, Brooke, was a real dumb bunny! First she's suspicious, the detective gives her cause to pause, several persons act surprised to hear she's engaged, but let him "go to Jared's" and give her a big diamond and all her doubts melt away and lead her to spread 'em for him. Then she finally starts getting some memory back and proceeds to throw all caution to the wind by placing herself in a precarious situation with phony fiance and phony best friend and taunts them into threatening action against her rather than her encouraging the detective to intervene. Like the first violent incident didn't teach her a lesson?
