i though the same thing that it was a remake of the car 1977 i saw this movie on scifi channel and my dad said he saw it back in 1977 and he is 48 years old!

There's the film version of Stephen King's book, Christine. But I think the car is black in that one.

There's a much lesser known film from 1977 entitled "Crash!" about a Camaro that is controlled through occult style hocus pocus. It's not at all a bad movie, actually. If you do an IMDB search, make sure you add the exclamation point or you'll get buried in "Crashes".
