Lucien (Spoilers!)

I was just wondering why, when all the other deaths are a bit 'explained away' (Abigail was really murdered etc) why they didn't really cover why Lucien killed himself - I know he was all heartbroken about thinking Abigail left him, but to kill himself?? Didn't really buy it.....
