The True Story This Movie Was Based On

This movie was based on the horrifying story in 1983 with the lone survivor - Ray Boundy.

He was on a radio show just after it happend in 1984 I believe and told the whole story of this horrific ordeal. To the person asking if sharks are normally this aggressive, yes they are. Especially tiger sharks (which was the main shark believed to have attacked these people). Although great white shark attacks are the most common, humans aren't normally their main food source. They don't like human flesh. So when surfers are attacked, they're normally mistaken for a seal and the great white would take one bite, realize you aren't food and then swim away. But often the one bites are fatal. With tiger sharks, it's a completely different ball game. Tiger sharks are extremely aggressive, more aggressive than great whites (look it up) and will bite you and then bite you again until you're dead. Tiger sharks will eat you as food unlike great whites. Don't get me wrong, if a great white is extremely hungry, he may eat you, but it's not often, they normally swim away if they realize you aren't food. The only reason there aren't many tiger shark attacks is because they often don't swim near the beaches where people swim. They are more out to sea sharks. This is why, if you are stranded in the middle of the coral sea floating around, um yeah, you're pretty much f'ed.
