Wtf was the thing on the rock at the end?

The entire time they were swimming towards that little island at the end (the one the girl gets up on) it looked like there was some sort of pole or something on it, i was like WHAT IS ITTTT. and they never showed it xD

I was wondering that myself.

At first, when they showed it from a distance, I thought it might be some sort of tall palm tree. But when they neared it, it was obviously a man made structure.

I was disappointed when they never bothered to explain it.

Solar powered navigation beacon. A little nod to Jaws 2? (LOL probably not)

but if I made it to the islad I would have broken ot to see if anybody coames to fix it..

Would something like that have flares or any type of equipment that would be of help to people? Or was it just a simple structure with nothing extra to help stranded individuals? If it was a structure without anything else, the lady stranded would just have to wait it out there and hope that someone saw her? Which might be rare as people would avoid this area that had a marker warning people to stay away because of the reefs...

I believe it had some kind of rescue equipment since in the real story they have found the woman after a while.

Question:

Wtf is the point in posting a comment answering a question over FOUR YEARS AGO?

Answer: Every time someone responds to something I post, imdb.com sends me a message that I have a response...and I read everyone. So it's possible the OP is interested in what others have to say.

Question: Wtf is up with posting random questions (like yours) which have nothing to do with the thread...and is just basically somebody whining?
