Why do you think they chose Joan Allen? The real O'Keeffe was younger.

I really liked this movie, but I don't understand why they had someone older play her. The only thing I can think of is that it looks more appropriate than putting a 60-year-old with a 30-year-old. Any thoughts?

A yea. I think it was the other way around, for Allen chose them. She produced and green lighted the production which got the project done.

Also, she was playing O'Keeffe,(that sex bomb), not Rita Hayworth. As a typical nineteenth century mid-westerned woman, Georgia looked older than her actual age.
