What is the point of Stone Cold Steve Austin in this film?

Everyone who knows Stone Cold from the WWF/E Attitude Era days knows how awesome he was, the top and most popular superstar in the company. His top notch mic skills, insanely good promos (see: 1996 King of the Ring, 1999 Royal Rumble with Michael Cole, basically any 98/99/00/01 WWF/E Raw/Smackdown), and working the crowd hanging on to every word he says so good they are rarely matched in today's product. His in ring work was great aswell.

Instead in this he gets a bunch of camera shots to his face before taking the girl away for water torture, a few poorly written pieces of dialogue and some fight scenes obviously mostly filled by a stuntman (because of the injury which forced him out of wrestling in the WWE before 2004). Then more outside fight scenes with a stuntman and lit up on fire.
