------------- Spoilers ahead -------------

At the end of the film, the narrator mentions that one lord what's-his-face who was made to resign after the militia found some memoirs. However, while watching the film, I didn't come across anything and I didn't understand what they meant when they said "memoirs were found and he was made to resign."

So, my questions are:
1. Who were they talking about?
2. What memoirs were they referring to? Was it that the lordship wrote about the Burke and Hare murders that needed to be kept hidden or something about the politics involved?

Grateful if someone could help me with these. Thank you.

Nobody told me I had the right to remain silent. You're supposed to say, "you have the right to remain silent."

Just watched this last night and I think I have the answer, but I'm open to correction. The head of the Militia who became a colonel for staying quiet about the murders (played by Ronnie Corbett) was the person who wrote his memoirs. As the narrator is saying this we see Corbett writing with a quill and he looks at the camera and raises his eyebrows a few times.

I'm assuming therfore that he wrote his memoirs and included the story of the Lord covering up the murders by setting the photos on fire, thereby forcing the Lord to resign.

Yes, that's exactly it. The "wee" militia Colonel wrote the memoirs exposing the murders - which forced the Lord to resign.
