A Sci-Fi original movie?
LOL! Nothing about this film looks "original". Apparantly they never heard of the movie Tremors.

shareI was thinking the same thing. LOL
shareThe sandworms of Tremors meet the Taliban in Afghanistan... oh yeah... that's original :-)
shareForget about the sandworms of Tremmors, these are much larger... However, their design, shape & movements are EXACTLY like those of the sandworms in Frank Herbert's DUNE...
shareThe worm reaching up and eating the helicopter was pretty cool.
shareWhen is Bert Gummer going to show up?
shareI am about half an hour behind on the show, does the blonde ever start acting?
shareIt seems like above average TV movie schlock - yes, basically Tremors in Afghanistan, but that's a lot more original idea than say, Tremors 5: The Thunder from Down Under.
It does lack Tremors' dark humor (with good reason) and Mr. Keaton.
But seriously, I think this is a noteworthy movie in this sense: After nearly eight years of war, this might be the first genre movie depicting either the Afghanistan or Iraq Wars. With no military draft, no tax increases, and limited coverage on television, at least there's this movie to remind people that American men and women are still fighting in their names in godforsaken pockets of the globe. (I only just tuned in 40 minutes ago, so I have no idea of the politics, if any, of this movie. I haven't seen any Rambo-style jingoism so far).
"...movie depicting either the Afghanitstan or Iraq Wars." There've been quite a few good movies dealing with the conflict in Iraq. Not including, however, the "Sci-Fi oringal" film Manticore, a movie dealing with American soldiers in Iraq who come across a mythical clawed and winged beast of Persia known as a Manticore, who has been unleshed by a manical warlord to bring Iraq under his sole control. Lord I wish I was kidding about this junk that this channel barf's out every year!
shareWow. Well okay then this movie is even less significant than I thought!
I know there have been quite a few movies dealing with the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, but I'm interested in genre films - sci-fi or fantasy.
I'm also beginning to understand why the Sci-fi channel seems to have a new movie on every other day - what do these things cost? Never more than six figures, I'd bet.
This reminded me of TREMORS too. However these things are nastier. Actually, the special effects are done quite well, IMHO. Reminds me of the 50s Harryhausen films like that giant octopus film he did(IT CAME FROM BENEATH THE SEA). Come to think of it, we could use some good allies like these sand serpents to eat the Taliban.

Ding ding ding! We have a winner!
shareNobody at this network knows the meaning of the word "original". They called "Sliders" and "Stargate SG-1" "original", too. I refuse to use the name S*F*
shareThe sand serpents look like Dune worms.
Very original.
