When will script writers stop using stereotypes from old war movies?

It's like the scriptwriters of this movie watched too many VIETNAM war movies. The soldiers have 1st SPECIAL FORCES (Green beret) patches on their uniforms, but their hair is too long, they bitch and moan and whine and complain and don't act like elite soldiers at all. The males other than the sgt and the Lt. are whiney wusses!

The African American woman, learned to 'hotwire cars in the hood', puhleez! Another stereotype of black soldiers. And as a punishment for getting arrested, she gets sent to Afghanistan as a Green beret?!?!?! WTF? You don't get drafted out of prison or jail or juvenile hall. That's such a NAM thing..... And if you did have a spotty background, you would definitely NOT be in an elite unit.

I can go on and on. The writers really don't know anything about modern soldiers do they? It's really an insult to anyone in the Armed services today.

Dr. Kila Marr was right. Kill the Crystalline Entity.

What I found funny is that the soldiers fired hundreds of rounds out of the AK-47's without ever reloading.

I really thought the days of movies with soldiers wearing earrings and having long hair were past us..............in the 60s and 70s movies it was just awful "sideburn soldiers" thankfully hollywood is more realistic now.............till this piece of garbage............agreed soldiers with attitudes like this would have washed out first week of special forces and the haircuts are horrible...................any actor playing a military role who cant even bother to get the proper haircut has no business thinking they are a professional

I'm guessing you know nothing about the SAS then, the most elite unit in the world, harldy ever have proper haircuts, hardly wear proper uniform, use almost any kit they want to and never salute anyone.

It wouldn't be likely that a special forces unit would have short haircuts since they're out behind enemy lines for months at a time.....unless they're an American "special forces" unit who aren't really special forces at all in most cases, not by the British standards at least ;)
