I know that Hollywood endings can be predictable, but I'd rather that then a movie that just ends with nothing resolved. What was the point, she's never going to go over to her Sister's house again?

No. She made peace with her brother-in-law and when they see each other at family functions there won't be any problems.

Well, that's the way life is most of the time. Besides, what major points in the movie weren't resolved? She won't be having an affair with the brother-in-law, she dropped the lawsuit (or settled for $150k), she'll sell the house and move into an apartment, the kid will go to public school again, starting over near the new apartment.
