After the birthday party scene where they had made Dennis sit alone crying I was thinking I understand he lied but his father did still in fact die they didn't show any compassion for that fact.
shareYou're right that he deserved compassion, but not from the people that he lied to. They were understandably furious at having been emotionally duped.
