Dental hygienist

First of all we make damn good money, unlike what is portrayed in movie.
When a movie is being made, correctly performing whatever job the actors' character is seems to be overlooked all too often. Why doesn't she use a cavitron? HAndscaling everyone? Her ergonomics are totally off. No mask and/or goggles? Yuck! Writing on the chart while it is sitting on the contaminated tray with her contaminated gloves?! Double yuck. I wish writers/directors/actors/ANYONE involved in the movie making process would fully research a profession before portrayal.

Yes and no. Can you imagine if someone had to research every job that every character has in a movie? As a scientist, I can tell you that a show like CSI is the most ridiculous show on tv ever (cops would probably agree too). People seems to like it anyway. I guess it's more about the characters themselves than about how realistic it is.

reply

Actors get paid more than enough money to research the jobs involved in their roles. It takes time but that salary would be more justified.

I have never seen my any of my hygienist wear goggles and or mask

she mentioned in the movie that shes making 38500 a year and thats not even working full time cause she said she could get more hours if she wanted too

reply

Yeah but the thing is nobody cares less about her job. It's not relevant to anyone but the most anally retentive pedant who might want to post about it on IMDb.
