For those who liked the historical topic of this film....
I have read through most of the posts and am surprised no one on a "movie-board" mentioned other films which retell so well this very period in pre-WW2 UK history...and was much better done....
namely the excellant "Remains of the Day" (1993, Merchant & Ivory film w/ Emma Thompson & Anthony Hopkins). The pro-Nazi remnants of the aristorcracy, the attempts at appeasement, subtle anti-semitism, all amidst grand sets and the trappings of wealth supported by those who are "asleep" but will become the fodder for war.
Also, giving a more under-class portrayal for the 1930's allure of UK's fascist Mosely's Blackshirts, is an excellant little gem "Liam" (2000).
Last but not least are two excellant films about WW1 with good historical detailing demonstrating much the same theme and ultimate message: "The Shooting Party" (1985) and "All The King's Men" (1999 TV).
The above films, coupled with "Glorius 39" which I enjoyed as well, gives a good visual overview for insight into this period...
