Just saw Episode 11...ugh! Total yawn fest!

I am no Hater I have watched every Defying Gravity show and I go to say that it is getting boring fast...Now that we have seen the big Beta reveal there is nothing left but slash backs and ho hum stories about these sex crazed trama rama junkies that somehow became astronaughts. Oh please...please make this show interesting. I know more Defying Gravity then you.

First off, get over yourself. Second, never disrespect me again. Furthermore I expect an apology or I will report you.

yes you go ahead and report him/her. then they will cancel your account for reporting someone for no reason.

Life's like a bottle of whiskey...takes years to mature and sometimes it makes you vomit.

I liked Episode 11 but admit it wasn't as good as the last two because it was more about the relationships of the crew. It's kind of ridiculous, I think, that the rule of thumb is to not date fellow astronauts, but that seems to be all they do date. Getting back to ep 11, I'm very intrigued about Nadia. I disagreed when posters said she was a transexual, but this episode seemed to suggest that she was. I'm still hoping that isn't the case but it would certainly be radical for network tv.

The key is that so far we have seen "Beta" - the number two object. When I first heard that, my immediate reaction was "There must be an Alpha". It clearly will be a more interesting object, in ways that for now we can only guess.

So there is still much more to be revealed. I'm just sorry it will probably never happen.

reply

so, when all the 'betas' get together then what? They become the borg?

hmmm. Interesting.

reply

you sir (or m'am) are an idiot.

The show is pretty crappy. But so was everything else during the summer months anyway. So Beta turned out to be a floating lava lamp that sings like a whale.

I was so hoping they'd stop flashing back to the training sessions, I skip through them.

reply

You skip through them because you're obviously looking for action or explosions instead of drama, which is really what this show is about, in addition to being speculative fiction about space travel. Those flashbacks are revelatory to what's really gong on at the moment, as you'd know if you'd bothered to watch them. So if it's boring to you, it's because you've skipped half the show. No wonder.

reply

Huh!? "Nothing left" you said?

What about how the other objects will react with each other?
What about the genetic modifications?
What about they are going through the Solar System for the first time (which give the writers the oportunity to show anything! like a crash with the Haley comet for instance)
What about Jen? Who can't see nor hear the object? Will be able to see or hear the other objects?

I think we still have lots to see and learn.

reply

I'm a fan of the show and I agree. 11 was quite boring. 12 was a 10/10. 13 was a 9/10.

Oh, you are SOOOOoooooooo wrong ...!

Once you've seen episode 13, everything that came before it makes sense. There are so many turning points in this episode, for several people. I also want to point out that lots of viewers still weren't into The X Files by episode 11, but it did slowly build a following. That's merely one example of a fine show that began as a sleeper. The difference today is that nobody at the networks is willing to wait for a great show to build that following. They're pretty much all cowards at the top, or they wouldn't cancel shows like this or Kings.

All that said, episode 11 was a necessary set-up for episodes 12 and 13 -- which is where the big payoff starts, and where the drama and the storyline become really intense. I can't imagine viewers who liked, for example, Battlestar Galactica watching all 13 episodes of Defying Gravity and *not* wanting to know what happened next. BSG had episodes that were largely espository, too; it wasn't action all the time. I'm beside myself wondering if ANY network will continue this show -- because this storyline is just TOO GOOD for me not to care about what happens next. Toss all the stupid sitcoms and ER-clones, I say, and bring back Defying Gravity!!!
