So... season finale (Spoilers obviously)

I'm really disappointed that this show isn't coming back. I thought they did the entire Venus walk pretty well, and it would have been awesome to find out about all the other objects, although considering there were another 6 of them (is that right?) there is no way in hell they would have gotten another 6 seasons. Not only would each season be pretty much the same, but there just simply wouldn't be enough character/plot development.

Anyway, does anyone know if the creators plan to continue the series in the form of a comic book or at least a summary of what happens?

reply

A lot of questions remain unsolved.

How did Zoe finally get in? What kind accident made that man lose his leg?
Really hope someone buys the serie so we can see the rest of it or a web comic or even a film (this season finale reminds me the Farscape end, which was perfectly finished with peacekeeper wars).

I don't care if we have to wait two years or more but I really want to see more!!

FFS!! I hate Fox, ABC and all those crappy channels who keep stupid series and cancel big, great, sci-fi series.

This is really an utter shame.

Episode 13 paid off in so many ways for this season. The story seemed set for some great new story arcs. I was looking forward to seeing the interactions of Beta and Gamma, signals from the next object, and I was especially looking forward to what came of the snooping investigative reporter's results when he started looking at the mysterious boulder.

It's funny how as sci-fi fans... we just get used to this kind of treatment... meanwhile American Idol begins a new season...

If you want to ease the pain a bit, you might check YouTube for the "Space Odyssey: Voyage to the Planets" documentary, that "Defying Gravity" was based on. Same ship for the most part, and they actually do complete the planet visits (along with a rather nasty comet).

Somebody brought a monkey, because the monkey knocked over the salad bar...

Highly emotional episode. And to repeat one of the above posters, it would be a damn shame if it isn't brought back by someone. To address something another poster mentioned - it doesn't have to be one season per one object. For instance, the next episode could be that they are ready to pick up the third entity and Zoe is still recovering months later. I don't think the show would need more than another 30 episodes to complete the story.

Just saw episode 13, it was amazing. There was tension, mystery, romance - all the stuff you normally have in a season finale. But of course it left me wanting more!
So many questions remained unanswered: how did Zoe get back into program, Nadya's hallucination, and of course the nature of these subjects.
Definetely there should be at least 2 seasons more to explain all that. I still don't want to believe this show won't be continued. It's too bad to be true!
ONE SEASON IS NOT ENOUGH!

Have you guys noticed Jen couldn't see the gamma object either..
So many questions left unanswered. At least it was a great finale.

reply

I had to watch it again but Jen was able to see the gamma object through the camera but not in person.

Weird, isn't it?

I LOVED this episode. So many emotional moments:

the entire "I have OUR baby boy, Donner" scene, and the editing from Venus to the Antares to mission control to flashback (which I think is great while most people hate it) --my jaw just dropped and I said "Oh s#it" at my computer.

Nadia and Goss' reaction to the whole OUR baby boy explanation--I had some animosity to both characters, but the way they reacted gained some, well, begrudging affection toward them.

The Donner/Ajay scene in the train station--the irony was delicious.

All of mission control and Antares crew rooting Zoe on.

Donner's kiss (which I totally saw coming, but it was still sweet nonetheless)

I am, in a way, glad they have not continued.

I like what is going, don't get me wrong but, I do not want to see the continuation of the Rollie storyline. I like what he did but it will end up being another conflict ridden thing that is stupid on the part of the big boss guy there. I do not like him.

I also do not want to see the reporter storyline continue. I just do not like that guy and not in a "love to hate him" sort of way. He is simply a "we need a bad guy" character and I hate those.

Unfortunatly for me, if they continue the show I am afraid that so much time wil be taken up by these stories that I will lose interest in the show. Seriously, NO ONE saw the big bulder there when the "cover up" crew were filming it.

The reporter to me is certainly obnoxious and pushy, but I think it's wrong to call him a "bad guy." He's good at his job and his job is digging for a story. He's not even, what I would consider, to be a sleazy reporter because he actually wants to report on the facts instead of making stuff up. And, btw, I happen to agree with him that the public has a right to the truth, even with something like this. I've never accepted the explantation that government should withhold info from the public because of a chance of "mass hysteria" or the like. While I highly doubt, for instance, Earth has been visited by UFO's, I can't see where learning of same would cause everyone to jump out of windows. Do you remember when Jack Nicholson said on "A Few Good Men" - "THE TRUTH - YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH!"? Well eventually he did tell the truth and everyone handled it just fine.

reply

i do not see him as a reporter that is trying to find the truth because "we the people" have a right to it. In my opinion, he want to find out these things for the sole purpose of furthering HIS career.

From the methods that he invokes, most notably leaning on people who were not successfull and trying to get them to tell him stuff "to get back at" the space agency says to me that he does not care about them. If he REALLY was about truth he would use a "tell me what they are doing wrong and I can help them stop" approach.

I also agree that the public has a right to the truth I simply do not believr that is his motivation but he is uses that approach to get the info he needs.

reply

Whatever his motivations are, I haven't seen him do anything unethical yet or throw out a phony story just to see what sticks. And he's trying to get the story from those who were partially successful - they're not on the spacecraft but they do work at mission control. I think even Walter Cronkite would have considered them "fair game." I don't think the guy who lost his foot (I forget his name) wants to get back at the agency, but rather that he truly feels the public has a right to know what's going on. If there is a bad guy here, I would say Goss is the top candidate. Now there's someone that would have no problems sacrificing the safety of the crew for the mission - although he did seem to show some true compassion for Zoe.
