Was Jen able to see Gamma?

It looked to me that she could see it when Zoe picked it up on Venus, but not when it was in its cargo hold.

reply

that's what I thought to so I'm really not sure.

reply

You are correct... she sees it in the camera image, but not when looking directly at it.

She can, however, see the shimmering light that is emitted from both Beta and Gamma reflecting off of the surrounding panels.

I was really looking forward to her little struggle with faith over the coming episodes. I imagined her being the only one on the ship qualified to study them, and having to come to grips with the fact that she could never see or experience them directly, but always had to view it through her instruments.

*I* was wondering if Jen would finally see either Beta or Gamma because she'd lose Zoe on Venus in the process -- but of course, Zoe made it back (though in severely compromised condition), so Jen hasn't had her moment of loss yet. Though I do begin to wonder if [SPOILER!] Rollie making his move at the end of episode 13 and turning himself in at the hospital will be the loss that Jen finally faces. Or if she's forced to put the baby rabbit to sleep at some point, whether that will be it; but losing Rollie is a better candidate for that loss. [END SPOILER]

Why would the police arrest Rollie?

I thought that Goss took care of all of that.

Now this is an excellent question!

I figured that Goss covered the hit and run up, but not if Rollie said anything about it (which was why he said "don't talk about it").

When Rollie called the hospital he said he was the driver. If anyone that was not "in the loop" found out they would call the police.

reply

Yes, that's definitely true, but remember that Rollie had already been in jail, and he was released. He didn't just break out of prison as far as I know anyway, it all looked lawful (yet still shady, or bribed in some way). But they wouldn't just let him walk out of prison for no reason right? So why would they arrest him again.

I had been thinking about this since I watched the episode... confusing

reply

Rollie was told to keep quiet about it. I got the feeling that everything was taken care of as long as the incident was not brought up again. Rollie calling the hospital and saying he was the one who did probably counts as bringing it up again. At some point it would become too public to be taken care of anymore.

reply

Were they cops or some kind of ISO security?

They called him "Commander Crane", didn't they? The cops probably wouldn't have used any astronaut or military (if he was in the Navy, he could have carried the rank of Commander) courtesy in picking him up.

The cop who showed up at the scene of the accident had been a wash out of the training program. He kept a lid on things; kept everything off the record. He put Rollie in a cell (not under arrest), and called Goss to take care of the situation before anyone else could find out about it.

To the public, and the girl’s family, she was just the victim of a hit-and-run; the police had no suspect. Goss (and the cop) tried to make sure that there never would be one.

Rollie calling in and going to the hospital would be just the confession the other cops would need to arrest and formally charge him.
