They renewed Leverage but not Dark Blue? WTF

I can't sit through one episode of Leverage but I love DB.

Where did you read it was not renewed. I've searched the web, but found nothing.

They haven't renewed Dark Blue YET.

Because Dark Blue is a horrible show filled with repetitive plots and annoying 2 dimensional characters, maybe? At least Leverage is fun. Dark Blue just makes me want to go kick a puppy.

Well then why are you here commenting? Troll....

I will agree that Leverage is just some family-friendly, grandma-safe type of show that has a broader appeal (forgive me Leverage fans). For example, a few years ago network television got the "thief" bug and there were a string of shows (some actually very, very good) like Smith and Thief where each network tried their own versions. However, they all ultimately failed and many have theorized it was because the main characters were all bad people doing bad things with little redeeming or sympathetic qualities. And that's my biggest beef with Leverage to be honest... we're a bunch of thieves and con-artists but it's totally O.K. because we're the good guys. And we've got Academy Award winner Tim Hutton! Did we mention that?

But back on topic, Dark Blue is really up in the air for me. It does fill a television void on Wednesday nights and I do look forward to watching it. However, if it did not get renewed, I wouldn't be heartbroken. It's not the content or themes or even the acting that makes me indifferent (they are all usually pretty good). It's just, at times, the show feels a bit contrived and I wish it were more serialized, like say, Heroes with a season-long plot that unfolds to hook their viewers better. Just my opinions though. We'll see.

Totally agree here. They gotta renew DB. You gotta figure that TNT has total control over this. I mean, is anyoune really watching Saving Grace or The Closer more than this? The show is getting better and better each week and it's in a great time slot. The only thing i can think that might hinder it is if the production costs are just too high, but it doesn't have That many special effects; they'll at least give it a second season.

The Closer pretty much doubles Dark Blue. As for Saving Grace, it's ratings were the second worst and it's been given a few episodes to wrap up story but it, too, has been cancelled. And it had better ratings than Dark Blue.

Where are you getting your information?

I looked at that site, dated 9/15/09.

Leverage renewed. (yay!)

Dark Blue and Raising the Bar "on the bubble" by their GUESS.
Nothing definite as of 9/15/09.

I hope Dark Blue is renewed.

I like Leverage more, but I like D B as well.
Also Burn Notice, In Plain Sight, and Royal Pains.
Each is entertaining in its own way, IMHO.

I've seen more episodes of Leverage (of course) but to be honest I think Dark Blue is a better show. It usually keeps me interested through the entire episode and they treat their characters better. Sometimes Leverage is too cutesy for me or annoying and I haven't seen that many episodes this season. I don't know, most of the actors on Leverage seem to have a certain attitude about them that just throws me off (Kane, Hutton, Bellman?) and in addition to that the characters also aren't that great. They rely too much on trying to be cute in my opinion. But they do have an established fanbase and it can be entertaining. So there you go.

I hope Dark Blue gets renewed but usually when I start to like a show it gets cancelled. Either that or it turns into a caricature of itself.
