I don't know if there's any book, but I think the credits near the beginning of the film might have referenced a short story, you can look if you didn't record it this upcoming weekend, when the film will be airing again.

I do remember reading a short narrative about what happened before somewhere else, maybe in one of the crab fishermen's books. Maybe one of Spike Walker's books.
