This is not worth your time.

First of all, let me open up by saying I really like this sort of film. Films like 'Buried', 'Frozen', '127 Hours' are what I am into. Intense thrillers with realism and raw emotion.
This film was done so wrong, in so many ways. It's a complete travesty. The main problem is that it's repetitively dull. Here's the basic structure of the film:

- Adrien Brody wakes up
- Adrien Brody struggles around abit, cries and gives up
- Adrien Brody hallucinates/has flashback and falls asleep

rinse and repeat, until he finally gets out of the car, then the film changes tactic:

- Adrien Brody writhes around in mud and grass
- Adrien Brody eats an insect to sustain himself
- Adrien Brody hallucinates/has flashback and falls asleep

There is no suspense! Whoever made the score failed so much because there are times that are meant to be terrifying and traumatic but they aren't, they just come across as lame. Plus, there's a moment at the end where Adrien Brody finally realises something quite important but it is casually brushed aside.
Lastly, the reason why he crashes in the first place is super, super underwhelming and simplistic. There was no reason for the people to take him hostage. They didn't need him, they didn't make him drive and he wasn't in the way. Why would you crash your own car and risk your own life too?

Here are a few words to describe this snoozefest: dull, repetitive, anti-climactic, underwhelming, cheap, uninspiring, lacking creativity, lacking emotion and most of all, lacking cohesion and sense!

Did you just buy a thesaurus ?

They used him as a hostage to help them get away.

They probably weren't sure what they would do with him yet, so they probably drove with him 'til they figured it out.

He didn't want to risk getting shot (which they probably would've done), so he pulled that stunt, which kicked off the movie.
