I think a better ending would have gone something like:
Brody's character finally makes it to the road and catches a ride with somebody driving by.
They wreck off a cliff.
Brody is trapped under the dash again and the driver has been thrown out.
BRODY'S CHARACTER goes, "Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh crap!"
THE END

I like your idea better, too. The Groundhog Day (in Hell) bit has been done a million times, but it would have worked better for this than the ending we got.

I like your idea, with a modification. He makes it to the road. A car stops to help him, it's the three bank robbers and they take him hostage again. They speed away, crash down the mountain again. Brody wakes up, rinse + repeat...
