Astoundingly bad

I've been watching films for over 50 years, and this would have to be one of the worst I've EVER seen: plodding construction, forced acting, laughable dialogue, amateur make-up, cheesy lighting, and last but not least: the utterly ridiculous music. Such an endless barrage of cliched bombastic tripe has never before been put between staves, it's so egregiously turgid that you can't follow the plot, I actually watched a lot of this in FF with the sound off due to the offensively intrusive score..MAN IT WAS FOUL!!! The only saving grace was the money spent on the battle scenes, I only wish the same budget had been available to Ken Loach for his vastly superior film on the same conflict: Land and Freedom.

This film is blatant propaganda for Opus Dei and Josemaria Escriva.

Re: "offensively intrusive score", I will agree with you about the music as it was indeed intrusive in that the same tune was repeated again and again during different emotional times. It is the only film that I can think of where the music was annoyingly over-used. My wife enjoyed the (DVD) film, but I found chores to do and then eventually fell asleep in order to escape this disappointment. However I would not totally trash the film and can see how some people would find it worthwhile.
