bright eyes (spoiler)

i take it bright eyes was his wife/lolas mum, but why call her bright eyes and why did they give her the drill treatment? do you suppose it was lolas brainwave so she could have daddy to herself?

reply

I guess it was because she wanted dad all to herself

reply

It's left to the viewers imagination. Here's what I think...

When Lola was a baby, her Dad found out Bright Eyes was cheating on him, or was planning on leaving him, and because he couldn't face her leaving, he gave her the drill treatment. So Lola grew up with this zombie like lady in her home, and her dad convinced her this was normal, making Lola hate her mum after what her Dad as said. As she thinks this is normal, she and her dad did it to boys throughout Lola's life...

reply

I have a somewhat similar theory...

I think bright eyes was just a woman that Lola's dad met and fell in love with but she didn't feel the same so he turned her into one of "them"((along the lines of what Lola does with her "loved ones") so he could keep her forever.

I think mek0626 is right but missed out one detail. Surely Bright Eyes was a woman that Daddy kidnapped 20 years ago because he too is a complete weirdo who couldn't get a girlfriend? She's drilled, then nature takes its course and nine months later out pops Lola? So her zombie-like state would explain the lack of feeling Lola had towards her mother, as I doubt there would have had much of a maternal instinct shown towards her.

And yeah, I know 'lack of feeling' isn't something unusual for Lola, but she certainly loved her Dad. As for the theory that she encouraged him to drill her own mother, I can't see that being true. That whole Electra complex didn't really fully kick in until the end of this film, when she realised it had 'always been him'

"Wait till they get a load of me!"

Your theory is what I think happened too, mek0626.

Bright Eyes is a reference to Planet Of The Apes.

Dollman VS Demonic Toys is the best movie EVER!

I was talking to a friend of mine who also loves this movie about her character. I was thinking it was either her mother or just some chick the dad decided to kidnap and lobotomize to use for sex. Then I had this horrible thought... What if she's BOTH?

That'd be seriously sick. He lobotomized her and then got her pregnant, which caused the birth of Lola. That's SO *beep* up, man!

Put your lighter in the air and lead me back home.

reply

That's what happened.

Maybe 'bright eyes' is a movie reference, but it might also be a 'humorous' label for the woman's dull, lifeless eyes.

I imagine the father once kidnapped a girl just the way he was kidnapping boys for his daughter now (who knows, maybe he had a parent to help him too), did the drilling and then lived with her happily ever after, had sex and a kid all the while she was in the zombie state.

Her daughter probably hates her partially out of jealousy and partially because there isn't much to love in a corpse parent. No wonder she is so *beep* up.

But Lola never drilled before Brent.
