Is everyone afraid of gore today?

I am not sure, I hope there is a uncensored version of this movie, but how is it possible in a movie so full of blood and wounds and gashes they don't explicitly show the drilling scene? Fulci did way worse than that 30 years ago. And the "showing it was useless and adds to the mood" doesn't really convince me.

They showed pretty much everything else. Sometimes it's preferable to leave some gore to the imagination, as well as more effective.

The standards were a lot more lax 30 years ago. Now you wont get a rating if you show the drilling.
